Step 6: Restructure

Our survey of current customers had delivered decisive results. I headed to the Romp & Roam Shopify store to revamp the menu. We now had three primary categories: Boys, Girls, and Neutral. Customers could then shop under age subcategories of Baby, Toddler, and Child.

There was a learning curve for me when navigating Shopify’s user interface. Brittany and I lamented about the limits Shopify has on creative input from its users (especially noticeable after using Squarespace to build my own portfolio). The options for store displays are pretty basic with shop owners only really able to make significant alterations if they know how to code. Because I wanted to set Brittany up with a store she could easily make changes to, I decided to not attempt any changes to the website’s HTML or CSS.

With the new logo installed, a favicon added, and the menu restructured, the redesigned Romp & Roam was officially ready to launch.
